Shout out to Men's Fragrances at Macy's Herald Square
· Gucci, Cartier, YSL, Azzaro, Lacoste
· Advantages of a Good Salesperson
July 5, 2021 | I had a lot of help at Macy's today, in every department I visited, including Men's Fragrances on the first floor. I was able to try YSL, Cartier, Lacoste, Azzaro and others.
One salesperson in the designer fragrance collections was especially helpful, so a big shout-out to her.
She made a great recommendation, Boss Bottled United Eau de Parfum, one of three of the new(er) Hugo Boss fragrances she pulled for me to try. Something really stood out with this one. I walked away with a nice big ℮ 200 ml bottle in dark pewter, and the coolest Hugo Boss Gift With Purchase duffle bag. It really saved me on the train trip back home; those paper shopping bags were heavy and could easily have broken.
(Side note: I had a very funny encounter on the uptown 1 train going home. I wrote it up for the NYT Metro Diary, sent it to them that night, and Wednesday morning they emailed me to verify it and let me know they are publishing it. What a great treat after a hard day of shopping!)
July 9 | Four days later, I am super crazy about Bottled United EDP. It is great in small amounts, but also really wonderful to drown in (as I love to do). So the 200ml size is perfect for me. I've filled a 3ml spray vial for a friend of mine, and may send some to my brother as well.
I was able to reconnect with my salesperson this evening. Now I look forward to looking at a few Gucci colognes more seriously. There are certain houses you should at least know about, and probably have on your shelf, if you are serious about men's cologne. I've added new houses recently: two Cartier, and one de la Renta (Pour Lui), and I plan to add Givenchy as well, probably Xeryus Rouge. I think Gucci deserves to be in my collection, too, and since "my" salesperson is getting to know what I like, and I know I can trust her good sense, it will be a win-win for both of us.
